US 6 spans more than 3600 miles from Provincetown, Mass. to Long Beach Calif. but regionally its from Westville Indiana to Harvey, Illinois. It's been a living highway for the Region or Indiana's Northcoast since 1843 says Lester Barnard and has has his kin buried alongside US 6. The communities of Harvey, South Holland, Lansing, Munster, Highland, Griffith, Calumet Twp., Gary, New Chicago, Lake Station, Hobart, Portage, South Haven, Westville all are touch by the lifeline highway. Many people will discovery once again this wonderful road when you are in the Region by taking a ride down the length of it for a great weekend getaway and see for yourself thru the many communities the history from each city/town along the route.
