US 6 spans more than 3600 miles from Provincetown, Mass. to Long Beach Calif. but regionally its from Westville Indiana to Harvey, Illinois. It's been a living highway for the Region or Indiana's Northcoast since 1843 says Lester Barnard and has has his kin buried alongside US 6. The communities of Harvey, South Holland, Lansing, Munster, Highland, Griffith, Calumet Twp., Gary, New Chicago, Lake Station, Hobart, Portage, South Haven, Westville all are touch by the lifeline highway.
