Democracy-The belief that citizens can arrive at judgements, both intelligent and fair and they are better for them than those politicians develope secretly and impose.
Democracy is dependent on leaders fairly and honestly elected by citizens. They govern based on accountability, openness, the rule of law, encouragement of debate and recognition of value of dissent. In recent years it seems that our government has become increasingly contemtuous of its citizens.
We citizens must become active in resuscitating our democracy and demanding that our leaders develop and implement strategies to strengthen, not weaken,it.
Where do our correct presidential candidates stand on supporting voter rights, criminalizing voter intimidation, electing presidents by popular vote, tightening lobbying laws(or eliminating lobbying), giving Congress the ability to override signing statements, strengthening the Freedom of Information Act, re-establishing the fairness doctrine, establishing guarantees of a free press, outlawing cronyism, establishing term limits for Congress and judges and accepting democracy as the cornerstone of their platform?. Corporate Greed/Wall Street/Washington Corruption-Recession Now-Worldwide Depression Coming if things are not changed.- Take Lobbying out of Washington-Take Wall Street from running our government-Let Congress and the President run our government-Take Speculators from driving up the price of gas-Gas $135.00 a barrel 5-22-2008-Create a strong dollar with trade agreements that benefit business in the USA and not overseas causing our dollars to leave our country-Look at impact of jobs in the USA with each new trade agreement and redo all past agreements with stronger language for equal trade, human rights, with the trading partners or the USA will pull out of the agreement. Bring back religion/the Ten Comandmentss that appear thruout the many buidings in Washington that our founding fathers put on their walls in the forming of our Nation and do not separate their ideas from following the right thing to do for the Nation-Have a National Health Care with controlled costs and not let the health industry get the way out of control charges under control-Don't mess with social security with private accounts-Stop taking money out of social security to pay for the war and future generations costs-Anytime a third party gets involved health,social security, the military- the costs just double or more with more hands in the pot.
